Wisconsin-based non-profit calls for Athens nativity scene to come down
To all that want Nativity Scene taken down. Why? Just let it be. Does it really bother you? think about it What really bugs you that someone with that kind of faith is happy and feels fulfilled to worship Jesus. What really offends you? Someone who will always be there for you no matter what, who loves you unconditionally. If this bothers you, my friends I will pray for you all. Christians have been celebrating Christmas for 2000 yrs and its not going to stop now. Tis the reason for the season
@TheHolyMongolEmpire Context is important. I believe the Bible b/c it’s a credible book repeatedly verified by its scientific foreknowledge & historical accuracy even prior to certain events. Secular history & objective science coincides with it rather well. The problem occurs when people try to use dating methods that require too many assumed variables. (It’s always annoying when people don’t know why they believe what they do or have no basis for it. … Research is good.)
@adamlhumphreys Because the Bible says it I believe it, because the Bible says so. Circular logic much?
Hey Christians, you dont own this country. Why do you feel the need to put your myths up at public places all the time. You people are so insecure in your beliefs that you have to put them up everywhere to back up your beliefs which I believe deep down you people really dont believe in. Otherwise, why would you guys cry and mourne people that die? Shouldnt you be happy knowing they are in heaven now and that you will see them in heaven someday too?
I wish these folks could understand that separation of church and state is a positive for them. If this were a Muslim or Buddist’ holiday display, the nooses would be coming out.
I just love fact that Christians dont have a clue to the pagan originations of Christmas. Hell they dont even have a clue to the history of their own religion.
I would love to see a large group of Muslims prayer there today. Would you still believe in religious freedom for all Christians? I doubt it.
@MMHOBBS08 LIES LIES LIES. YOUR IMAGINARY CHRIST HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS. YOU SAY DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS?? WELL THE ILLEGAL MEXICANS HAVE AND ARE TAKING OVER YOUR SORRY STATE. YOU SEEM TO BE WEAK AND POWERLESS!
The war on Christmas is about as made up as the war on Christianity itself.
We simply want your religion to play by the same rules that every other religion plays by, nothing more and nothing less. No reason for preferential treatment that isn’t afforded to anyone else.
It’s simple. Hell is happy to await unbelievers. Jesus dealt with them long ago. 24 The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. 26 “But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. 27 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me…(John 10:24-27).
I would just have to say to the atheist group that since they do not beleive in anything there display of notingness is prevelent on county property and they could remove it by placeing nativity scenes, and or crosses next to their nothingness in order to have equal representation of ideas.
I don’t hate atheist btw. Just the extremest! I actually have a couple friends that are atheist.. They respect my opinions and I respect theirs. I try to reach out to them but not in an offensive manner. I don’t push my beliefs on them nor will I. We are to speak the word of God.. Not cram it down peoples throats. You show the love of Christ through your actions.. Through your everyday life. (My opinion) All opinions are open.. Ill respect yours all the same. GOD Bless 😛 Lol
Im from that area.. This has been up every Christmas since I can remember. I think its hilarious that a person from Wisconsin are demanding it to be taken down. We are the most stubborn people in the world. I dare you to march on the county lawn with your signs and whatnot demanding it to be taken down. We don’t intrude on your Holiday “April Fools”.. You guys are a joke. Lol (If you don’t believe then why force others upon your beliefs)?.. Hypocritical if you ask me.
As a Christian, I understand that Biblically, Christmas has nothing to do with Christianity. Nevertheless, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good,” Psalm 14:1.
Separation of church and state was originally to protect religion from the state. Not the other way around. The government needs to stay out of peoples lives. If Athens, TX is not your kind of place you can always move or stay out. The folks who love Athens,TX should keep doing what makes them happy.
You liberal pagans in Wisconsin practice your values free barbarism ALL YOU WANT IN WISCONSIN, BUT DON’T TELL US WE CAN’T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS ANYWAY WE WANT TO. NO, WHAT is UNCONSTITUTIONAL is YOUR INFRINGING ON OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!! YOU ARE THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL CRIMINALS, NOT US IN TEXAS!
The Nativity Scene does not force anyone to believe the Christian faith. However in our public school systems the atheism religion is forced upon all our children in the form of evolution. If atheists continue to insist in violating our Constitutional rights to express our faith, then we should be allowed to suppress the teaching of evolution as well. I am proud of Athens resolve to fight for their rights.
I’m proud of the county for standing up. Christ is the reason for CHRISTmas. As a Christain i m ow that im going to heaven but i also know that we have to stand up to satan no matter what form he comes in. God Bless American, and God Bless Texas. Don’t they know any better than to mess with Texas.
