  1. Yes because this is the first line mde in Greece about the oldest years. Some stations are underground but the others stations are overground. In oldest years, making an underground metro is very difficult. So this line is overground.

  4. I want to visit so bad. I like Greece, my countries patron saints are St. Cyril a Methodius from Greece, they are on my passport, and we have a national day for them. From Slovakia.

  13. One last thing the video was recored in December therefore all the leaves on the trees had fallen revealing a lot more then what would be seen if they were in full leaf [an oasis of green!!!] . Just a note.

  14. Also the metro system in Athens [Centre to Southern part of the city] is very picturesque and I highly recommend it as you will see Athens is not scruffy as you said but actully very beautiful and green. Maybe you should visit and see for yourself. Forget english media they know nothing and portray this charming city completely different to what it is! I should know I moved here from London and much prefer Athens and her beauty!

  15. Actually it’s quite a pleasant trip! I went from Kifisia down to Piraeus and if your actually on the train looking out the windows one can see a lot of greenery, parks, pretty squares, attractive buildings etc. The recorded view is not something to go by if you want to appreciate the real view of Athens.

  16. I agree Athens is a very beautiful old city with a lot of charm and mystical features……but as you said the graffiti is awful and destroys the city. Athens is picturesque and original and I’m glad it’s not too modern like the new cities around the globe. Character is quintessential for a city and Athens has that but like you said a little less graffiti and a little less corruption would do wonders for this magnificent city.

Οι αποστάσεις μεταξύ των σταθμών είναι τόσο μικρές, που πόσο παραπάνω να πάει ?

  23. I think this beautiful old city has a lot of character, unlike the modern look of the trains in places like Dubai or America. Sure, it must be nice for everything to be air conditioned, but it’s just so sterile. And maybe the graffiti is an eyesore, but if you don’t have a spot of graffiti anywhere, that tells me the place must be a police state.

  24. That may well be very true but one then has to wonder whether the lines in themselves may be intrusive of the views. Here in London we could of course do the same by building Crossrail above ground but if we did there would be an outcry about the visual impact.

  25. try the over-ground sections of some london lines, and they make athens look positively scenic. you pass the heart of ancient athens, the agora, above ground, and are then running down the line of the historic long walls which connected athens to piraeus.
